I was able to take my ATI results and use them to help me improve my test-taking skills. After examining my results closely I realized that I needed to slow down and take more time to read the question and most importantly all of the answers. I found that oftentimes I would read a question too fast, and would miss what it was actually asking. And then I would choose the wrong answer. I also learned that I need to take a small break throughout these longer tests because if I don’t I start to get streaks of wrong answers.

As I learned more about my test-taking styles I would say that my score began to get better. I would say that one of my weakest sections has always been medications and adverse effects. As time went on I definitely improved in this section. When looking at my results there weren’t any topics that I did really bad on compared to the other ones. As the semester progressed I improved in many different areas.

I learned a few valuable self-care strategies. I learned how to set myself up for success by bettering my time management skills, putting myself in a productive environment, and by finding a better balance between school/work and my personal life. I noticed that once I started doing these things, I felt way less stress in my life and I was able to perform better in school.

There is so much information that I will take away from this class and be able to use to help prepare myself for licensure and transition into the professional world. I’ve learned better test-taking and studying skills which I feel will help me tremendously while preparing for the NCLEX. And I also learned how to communicate and work with interdisciplinary teams which will be extremely beneficial once I start working in a hospital. Most importantly I learned how to hold myself to a high standard and how to properly represent myself as a nurse.
