Caring The Art of Nursing
Marlyn Boyd

Nursing is the practice of looking after those who are unable to care for themselves, and doing this requires compassion. I chose this artwork because I strongly believe in order to be an excellent nurse, you need to be able to give compassionate care. Showing compassion can mean many different things. To me, you could show compassion in many ways, for instance holding the door for some or offering assistance is a compassionate act. For patients, you could simply ask them how their day is going. By providing compassionate care to our patients we are able to reduce their stress and promote faster healing.

Great post Natalie. I really like how you give examples of small ways to show compassion to others in the health care setting. Many professionals forget how much being kind to people in your surroundings helps along the healing process. I will definitely keep your post in mind as I work. This was a great reminder of the impact of being compassionate as a nurse.

This is such a great relation to compassionate caring. It is a great reminder of how important the little things are, such as just being there for the person as they are struggling through their ordeal. Very touching!
